Mars in Leo, what it means

Mars is the commander of the planets. It rules courage, energy, land and property, younger siblings, police and defence, sports and surgery. Mars usually stays about 45 days in a sign, but when it turns retrograde it can stay in one or two signs for many months.

Leo is the sign of the Sun, a friend of Mars. Mars is strong, proud and full of leadership here. In this cycle Mars turns retrograde in Leo and moves back into Cancer, then returns to Leo later in 2027.

Leo is a fire sign ruled by Sun. It covers the Nakshatras Magha, Purva Phalguni, Uttara Phalguni (pada 1). With Mars here, matters of energy, courage, property, siblings, disputes and accidents take on the colour of Leo, such as leadership, government, politics, children and entertainment.

Mars retrograde

While Mars is retrograde, energy turns inward and work on property, legal cases and construction can slow down. Old disputes may return. Use the time to plan and repair rather than start.
